5 Surprising Sources Of Anxiety & How To Beat Them
5 Surprising Sources Of Anxiety (& How To Beat Them). Anxiety is one of the most common mental health issues, and it can be attributed to a vast range of sources. However, some are a little less obvious than others. As such, you may not be entirely certain as to why you feel the way you do. Rectifying this issue is a priority.
Here are five sources of anxiety that you may have overlooked, along with the best solutions to handle them.

Driving
Driving can be one of the most enjoyable activities of all. However, it can also cause great anxiety if you need to travel unfamiliar roads or have fears about your vehicle. Adding a Sat Nav can overcome the anxiety about diversions and other issues that may occur. When planning a journey to somewhere new, you can also use Google to check out the route in advance.
Medications
Most people realise that several recreational drugs can lead to paranoia, anxiety, and other mental health issues. But you might not appreciate the fact that prescription medicines often cause anxiety as a side effect. So, if anxiety has suddenly surfaced after starting a course of medication, this may be the issue. Speak to your doctor about the situation immediately. In most cases, an alternative prescription or drug will be made available. This can help keep anxiety at bay.
Dating
Nothing beats falling in love, but the pursuit of it can be very stressful. In turn, this may lead to anxiety. Itβs OK to be alone. In fact, itβs better to be single and happy than in an unhappy relationship. Likewise, itβs unlikely that youβll allow yourself to find love if anxiety is dragging you down. Dating and anxiety is a difficult topic to discuss, but many other people are going through the same issues. If you need to take a break to concentrate on yourself, thatβs absolutely fine.
Phobia
For many people, anxiety manifests itself with very similar symptoms to phobias. However, itβs not uncommon for the anxiety to actually be rooted by a phobia. Anxiety over travel may be due to a genuine fear of flying. Anxiety about visiting certain venues may be due to claustrophobia. Whether the phobia is a rational or irrational fear, it can make you anxious. Pay greater attention to finding a treatment or coping mechanism for the phobia, and anxiety should be greatly reduced.
Friends and Family
Our lives are significantly influenced by the people around us. Friends and relatives can quickly cause a lot of anxiety if they create toxic relationships. Likewise, if they have shown signs of anxiety, it can rub off on you too. Sometimes in life, itβs best to take a step back, even temporarily. Meanwhile, if the thought of visiting someone feels you with anxiety because they are a negative influence, the signs are clear. Thereβs nothing wrong with putting your wellbeing first.
Lack of Sleep
One of the biggest things that can impact your day to day life is the amount of sleep you have, and this affects people more than they realise. There are so many things that play a massive part in this right now, and you have to try to focus on what you can do to get better sleep so that you are more nourished and rested each day.
Comfort is a massive part of the sleep process, and this can be achieved by choosing exactly the right kind of bedding and sleep attire to make you as comfortable and relaxed as possible. For instance, check out this weight guide for weighted blankets to help you choose the most comfortable, snug, and warm blanket. This will work wonders for helping you to sleep, and that will help to improve your mental well-being.Β
Other ways to get a better nightβs sleep include ensuring the temperature in the room is perfect, making sure you have the right noise levels and that you are blocking out light. And above all, you have to make sure you are in the right headspace to be able to relax and fall asleep. Develop a bedtime routine based on calmness and tranquility, and even look to consider meditation before getting into bed. All these things will calm your mind, help you develop inner peace, and allow you to combat anxiety as much as possible.
Living with anxiety isnβt enjoyable. Learn to prevent bouts by targeting the sources above.

Ah I love this, especially because you’re the first person that acknowledges driving as a source of anxiety. It’s my biggest source, it really freaks me out and I end up badly shaking whenever I go a little bit further than my norm. It’s nice that someone else recognises this as something that can be a big deal. I love how you’ve highlighted the different sources, it’s so important to recognise different things trigger different people.
I deal with anxiety and while I do have certain triggers, sometimes it can just appear out of the blue. I’m getting better at managing it as I get older but I think it’s something I’m going to have to live with forever. Thanks for sharing this post!
Such an important post! I always think itβs so good to spread awareness of anxiety causes!xx
So true! I especially recognize myself in the first one (especially when Iβm in a hurry to a place I donβt know) and the last one. I love the people in my life, but they can bring pressure as well!
I can relate to this on a level I wouldn’t want to. It’s true. Thanks for writing this π
