Yesterday I had I lovely relaxing afternoon with my girl friends at the Vale Resort, having afternoon tea. We had the new summer afternoon tea menu, which works out at £35 for two.
At the beginning of May I turned 23. Here’s a quick roundup of what I received from my boyfriend and family.
Gym membership and personal training sessions. Not very exciting I know but something very useful as I need all the motivation I can get.
Rose gold double ring necklace. My little sister is the cutest. She saw a bracelet that I have which is similar to this and so decided to get it for me as a necklace to match.
Rose gold bracelet. Another piece of gorgeous jewellery to add to my collection.
Nursing student planner. This is an amazing present. As you all know I am hopefully going to going to university in September to start my nursing degree, so this will become very useful.
I got a tattoo!
Anyone who is close to me will know how big of a deal this is. I don’t do pain and I am very indecisive!
OMG, lush Cardiff have a spa! The most exciting news ever!
I was kindly invited to see the new store and spa, the day before the grand opening.
Last week I was invited back, with Johny to FeD Cardiff to try their new chef special menu.
If you don’t know who Fed are they are a ‘Food Exploration Destination‘. A restaurant were you can have dishes from a wide range of cuisines including; Chinese, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Tex-Mex and Grill.
I want to share a personal update with you, it is something which is a big step but I am very excited about!
As some of you may know, I decided to go back into education and start an Access to Healthcare course last September.
I must say, I was told it was an intense course, however nothing could prepare me for this. It’s bloody hard!
I am still plodding along with the course, there’s days when I am laying in bed sobbing over the coursework.. I am determined to make it to the end and finish the course though.
If anyone’s got tips on motivation, send them my way!
The last few months have been tough as well, because not only have I been attending college, I have started training for a new job. I am now a health care support worker. I have had to miss days off college and reschedule exams and assignment days to work around my training. Apart from that, I am really enjoying the training and have learn’t a lot already. It’s been great to be hands on.
Since being on Roaccutane, I have found it difficult to wear makeup as my skin has been so sensitive and irritable, anything can set it off. Recently my skin has been better and I have been able to wear makeup a couple of times a week.
My current favourites are; Benefit Sugarbomb Blusher, RealTechniques 101 Triangle Foundation Brush, Eyeko Liquid Black Eyeliner and Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.
My makeup has been very basic but pretty, with natural rosy cheeks and a classic feline flick. It has made me feel like me again as I love playing around with different products.
What have you been loving recently?
This time of year, most people like to book a short break away to get away from the dreary weather. You could be heading to Cologne for their famous markets, architecture and museums. Or perhaps you’ve decided to hit the slopes for some skiing, putting your feet up in front of a blazing fire each night. Whatever the destination, winter packing is just as difficult as traveling during the summer, so here are the essentials you should make sure you don’t leave home without.
When you’re taking a break rather than a full holiday, try to cut down on your packing. By opting for a holdall that qualifies as a carry-on, you’ll not only make traveling to different cities easier, but you’ll cut out the cost of paying for checked-in baggage. There are some quirky designs out there these days too, which means you’ll stay on trend even when trekking through an airport. However, make sure you always buy a well-known luggage manufacturer, such as Antler or Tripp. Although that designer piece might look pretty, the chances are that the quality won’t be there.
It’s always a good idea to be organised for your trip. Shop around for your currency rate, try to book tickets for shows in advance where you can, always print your hotel confirmation, and make sure you have back-up paper copies of any e-boarding passes. The problem is, where do you put it all? There are some cute travel organisers that you can pick up on Etsy and Not on the High Street, and it means you’ll have everything in one place.
It’s always difficult choosing fashion accessories for winter holidays, so try to stick to simple additions. Invest in luxurious fur gloves, hats and scarfs that match, so that they can easily be paired with any outfit. When it comes to jewellery, stick to a few key statement pieces, such as your ChloBo charm bracelet and a timepiece with some sparkle.
As it’s the colder time of year, it’s always a good idea to take cold and flu medicine with you, so that you don’t have to worry about finding a pharmacy whilst you’re in a foreign country. Try to second guess what you’ll need, such as plasters for your feet after those long walks around cobbled streets, or a lip-balm for your chapped lips from the harsh elements.
If you’re taking a holdall rather than a full suitcase, you’ll be looking for space-saving ideas: go for two jumpers instead of several thinner tops, wear your bulky coat for all weathers to the airport, but pack a lightweight waterproof, and make sure you wear your good pair of walking shoes too, cutting down on the weight. If you’re going skiing but you’re not a regular, the chances are you won’t have the gear, so buy cheaper versions or simply hire your ski-wear whilst you’re there.
Where are you heading to this winter?
What a year, It’s had up’s and downs but I got through it. I had some lovely adventures with my blogging friends, including Bluestone and a trip to London. I also got to visit some amazing places with Johny, such as St David’s cathedral, Carew’s Castle and the Isle of Wight. I faced a fear – holding a snake. I bought a car and past my driving test. Both Johny and I had surgery on the same day. I started the Access to Healthcare course. I got a new job. But most importantly spent loads of time with my family. Here’s just some of my pictures from 2016.
Over the past two months, I have had a nightmare with my skin. I can honestly say, I don’t wish this upon anyone but my skin was so dry and sensitive. My skin was dry, patchy and flaky, especially around my nose, chin and forehead. Though my lips were the worst. They were cracking and peeling and kept bleeding all the time. They were so sore, my lips constantly felt like they were on fire; they were burning.
