Lotil Cream Review – Perfect for dry skin
Do you have dry skin? I do, and I’m always on the look out for new products that can hydrate, moisturise and soothe my skin. Dry skin is very common, whether it’s dry all year round, particulary dry in the colder months or in conjunction with skin conditions. This post is my Lotil Cream review, as I was recently sent their range which is aimed at helping with dry skin.
About Lotil cream range
Lotil is an English brand and has been around for over 100 years. Their products are designed to gently rehydrate dry skin and support moisture retention. Lotil also helps to protect the skin against environmental and climatic conditions. The Lotil range consists different sizes of the orginal cream:
30ml – handy miniature tube*
50ml – handbag-sized tube*
114ml – multi-purpose home use tub*
500ml – extra large container with pump dispenser*
Lotil also have a lip balm* to help moisturise chapped, cracked lips with SPF30 and a foot cream* with added rosemary extract, which is an anti-oxidant and aloe vera with soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.

What is Lotil cream used for?
Lotil cream is a very versatile product. You can use the Lotil cream for dry skin or when your skin needs extreme rehydration and repair. During winter and the colder months, when your skin dries out. After shaving or waxing or after being out in the sun. Lotil cream can be used after exposure to extreme temperatures of hot to cold, as it can cause your skin to dry out quickly. You can also use the cream for skin conditions such a psoriasis and eczema or conditions you can get from diabetes. Lotil can even be used to relieve itching and pain relief from haemorroids (piles).
Where can Lotil cream be used?
Lotil cream can be used anywhere on the skin including; hands, elbows, knees, body and face. Although you shouldn’t use the cream on the skin on and around your eyes. You can also use the cream on any cuts and broken skin as it contains anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties, which help to prevent infections and supports the skin’s healing process.
Lotil is a fuss free cream. As well as antibacterial and antiseptic ingredients, the cream contains something called Lanolin. Lanolin is a secretion from sheeps skin, it’s a waxy substance that is emolient and conditioning and is similar to our own skins sebum. This does mean that Lotil products aren’t vegan. Lotil products are cruelty free though, the brand states that they do not test on animals.

Lotil Cream Review – my thoughts
The packing is very simple. It’s plain white with a blue lid and blue writing. The foot cream comes in white and green packaging.
Lotil cream has a clinical smell, probably because of the antiseptic properties. To me it smells a little bit like Sudocreme. This doesn’t bother me, but it is quite potent so worth noting.
The cream itself is white and of a thick consitency. It feels firm when scooping some out from the pot, but it softens up really quickly. You do have to really massage the cream in well, however, it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy. I hate products that take forever to sink in, I end up just sitting in my towel for hours, because my skin is too greasy to put clothes on. Another moisturising cream I’ve used is from the brand Palmers, which I mentioned in my Products for a Perfect Pamper Session post.
Perfect for dry skin
I noticed straight away how soft my skin felt after applying the cream. After regulary using the cream, my skin has felt more hydrated and smooth. I have really enjoyed using this cream on my legs after I have shaved. It leaves my legs super soft and feeling moisturised.
Another place I love to use this cream is on my tattoos. It is so good at keeping them hydrated and bright. I have also used the cream on my scars and it helps to keep them soft and protected.

A stand out product from the Lotil range is the lip balm. My lips have been so dry recently and I have tried multiple products to try and combat the driness, but nothing has worked as well as the Lotil lip blam.
I have been slathering this on and it’s really moisturising and soothing on my dry, cracked lips. It’s really handy to keep with you and in your handbag and I love that it’s got SPF in it, as it’s so important to be protected from the sun.
Where to buy Lotil products?
Many pharmacies stock Lotil products, so it might be worth while checking out your local pharmacy. Lotil cream is more widely available at Boots, they sell the multi-purpose tub 114ml* for Β£7.00. You can also purchase some of the products on Amazon like the Lotil lip balm* for Β£1.21
My overall thoughts for my Lotil Cream review is that I am really impressed with the the whole range. The cream has been really fab for my dry skin and I love the lip balm. I have also introduced the cream to my mum, who suffers with dermatitis and psoriasis. If you are looking for a fuss free cream that is super moisturising then I highly recommend checking out some Lotil products.
