Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation | Review
After lusting over this foundation for so many months, I bought the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation*.
It is designed to be full coverage but completely weightless, creating a flawless second like skin. This foundation contains ‘magic’ ingredients such as Laricyl which is a concentrated mushroom extract for firming the skin, hyaluronic for moisture and Vitamin C for brightening.
Charlotte wanted to create a foundation that would be suitable for everyone from people who suffer from acne, redness, discolouration or dull, tired skin. It also has SPF 15.

Application
Applying the foundation I found it set quite quickly so I would say to apply thin even layers and build it up. I wouldn’t recommend dolloping the foundation all over the face before blending as you’ll end up with patches that have dried before blending out.
I like to apply this foundation with my fingers and really work it into my skin or with a damp beauty blender. Using it with a flat foundation brush and buffer brush made it difficult to blend out.
Texture
The foundation sets demi-matte so if your skin is on the drier side like mine you need to make sure the skin is highly moisturised beforehand. I have found that the foundation goes a little bit flaky around my nose. I’d suggest to try to keep on top of exfoliating and use a lot of hydrating products specifically around that area.
On the rest of my face it sits beautifully and it blends in with my skin seamlessly. The shade 3.5 fair is a great match for my skin. There is a good shade range with 12 shades to choose from, including shades for different undertones.
This foundation lasts relatively well, and is one of those foundations that wears nicely throughout the day. I’ve worn this through my 12 hour nursing shifts and it doesn’t look half bad when I finish. I have noticed a little bit of movement around my nose and chin but that is the case with most foundations.
As with all Charlotte Tilbury products the packing is gorgeous. It comes in a slightly frosted glass bottle with a white pump. Not only does it look beautiful on the dressing table, it is easy to see how much product you have left. I have had no problems with the amount the pump dispenses.
Pros
– SPF 15
– Lightweight and comfortable to wear
– Natural and skin-like finish
– Decent wear time and good skincare benefits
Cons
– Not suitable for extremely dry skin
– Sets fast so needs to be blended in quickly
– Needs a few layers to build up for high coverage
Charlotte Tilbury’s website has a foundation shade finder. There are also some really good websites that you can compare your current/previous foundation shades to.
