Halloween makeup has always big in America and it is constantly increasing here in the UK. What I’ve noticed over the years is that you don’t really see a lot of pictures of halloween makeup with people wearing glasses. So many people across the globe wear glasses, it’s important that there are some halloween looks that are more suitable for those who wear glasses. That’s why I’ve put together this post to show simple halloween makeup for glasses weares that are fun and werable.

Why Halloween Makeup Should Be Inclusive

Wearing glasses shouldn’t mean that you have to compromise when it comes to experimenting with makeup. In fact, I think glasses can actually become part of a Halloween look rather than something you need to work around. Harlequin Halloween Makeup – Harlequin nice to meet ya

Harlequine is a very popular halloween makeup look. There are so many variations of this look you could do. The stand out feature of this look is the colours. Blue on one side and red on the other. I had so much fun creating this look, becuase I could be playful and I didn’t have to be precise.

That’s one of the reasons I would encourage anyone to try a Harlequin-inspired look. You can take the traditional colour combination as your starting point and then completely change the design. You could make one eye much more dramatic than the other, add diamonds or little shapes, incorporate your own glasses frames into the design or even swap the traditional red and blue for colours that you already love wearing.

The great thing about using highly pigmented eyeshadows is that you can build the colour gradually. If you’re nervous about going straight in with an intense blue or red, start with a small amount and blend it out. You can always add more. Halloween is the perfect opportunity to step outside your usual makeup comfort zone, and you might be surprised by how much you enjoy wearing colours you wouldn’t normally reach for.

I wanted to keep this look quite simple. There are plenty of options to go over the top with the makeup including; fake blood and playing cards. You could even copy the makeup of the red queen from 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, played by Helena Bonham Carter. This is where I got the inspiration from, for the blue eyes.

This is another look where you can decide how far you want to take it. If you’re heading to a Halloween party, you could build on the basic blue eyes and red lip by adding exaggerated blush, heart-shaped details, graphic eyeliner or playing-card-inspired designs. If you’re simply looking for something wearable for a night out, you can keep the details minimal and let the colour combination do the work.

Blue eyeshadow can sometimes feel intimidating, especially if you’re used to neutral tones, but Halloween is the perfect excuse to give it a try. Start by applying a softer blue through the crease before gradually building a more vibrant shade onto the lid. You can experiment with different finishes too. A matte blue can create a striking editorial effect, while a shimmer or metallic shade can make the eyes catch the light behind your glasses.

Halloween Blood Makeup – What a bloody mess

You can be as experimental as you like with this look. The placement of blood is entirely up to you. You can even use different tones of red to create the effect of dried blood. I wasn’t too sure on this look, but friends and family persuaded me to share it.

I’m actually glad they did because this is a perfect example of why it’s worth experimenting with makeup, even when you’re not convinced by the result at first. Sometimes a look can feel strange when you’re creating it because you’re seeing every little detail up close. Once everything comes together, however, it can look completely different.

There are no rules when it comes to fake blood makeup. You could keep it subtle and create a few small drips, or completely embrace the SFX side of Halloween with a much messier, more dramatic design. Try mixing different shades of red to create depth rather than using one flat colour. A brighter red can look like fresh blood, while deeper burgundy and brown-toned reds can help create an older, dried effect.

I also think it’s important to remember that “wearable” doesn’t have to mean boring. You can create something colourful, dramatic and completely different from your everyday makeup while still making it work with your glasses. Sometimes all it takes is changing the placement of a product, choosing a slightly softer shade or building the intensity gradually.
