How to Have a Happier Social Life
Have a Happier Social Life. Some people feel perfectly comfortable in social situations. For others, it’s a challenge. Indeed, even people who were once excellent in social settings may have found that their social skills have taken a hit in the past year or so, a period when opportunities to get together have been in short supply. But if there’s one thing to know, it’s that nobody is ever locked into their social way of being. It can always be improved and solidified. And, of course, this isn’t for anyone else’s sake; it’s for your own. Because social life can be fun and you deserve it!
How to Have a Happier Social Life
Learn to Say No
Could it be that you’re not unhappy with socialising in itself, but that you’re just hanging out with the wrong people? There are often many opportunities to socialise, especially if you have colleagues, but just because the invitation is there, that doesn’t mean that you have to take the opportunity. Some people feel like they have to say yes to every invitation, but that’s not the case — you’re very much allowed to say no. Say yes to the ones that make your heart sing, and decline the others.
Ultimately, who you spend your time with is majorly important. Sometimes, we can hang out with people a few times before realising that they’re not really our kind of people. And that’s absolutely fine. You’ll be doing everyone a favour if spending time with them isn’t something that you enjoy.
Calming the Nerves
For other people, it’s not that they’re hanging around with the wrong people. It’s that they get nervous when they’re with all people, even if they really like them. For that, there are a couple of solutions. It all comes down to reducing the feelings of anxiety. Meditation and CBD oral drops can be really useful for both these things. Try both before you head into a relaxed social environment, and you’ll likely find that your social anxiety is much more reduced. Also, remember that in nearly all cases, people will want you to be there and that they won’t mind if you’re a little awkward. It’s all fine!
Trying New Things
Sometimes, even when we have good friends, socialising can begin to feel a bit unsatisfying. That’s the case if it feels like you’re doing the same things over and over again. Going to the pub can be fun, but if that’s the only place you’re seeing people, then why not look at trying new things? Going for a hike or doing another activity can lead to a different, more positive kind of social interaction.
Patience
Finally, remember that sometimes, patience can go a long way. You might not be where you want to be socially right at the moment, but if you continue to do the right things, then eventually, it’ll come. At some point, you’ll look back and you’ll see just how far you’ve come — indeed, you might become the type of social butterfly that others wish that they could become.
