Are blogging courses worth it: Blogging Mindset Mastery review

AD – Gifted. This post contains gifted items, but all thoughts are my own.

I’ve been plodding along with my blog for the past few years. I’ve read a few articles about how to improve my blog, but never really taken serious actions to up my blogging game. Recently I have seen a lot of bloggers create and promote blogging courses and I’ve always been a bit sceptical about whether they would actually be of any use. Are blogging courses worth it? Jenny from Jenny in Neverland asked if anyone wanted to try her Blogging Mindset Mastery course in exchange for a review. Of course I jumped at the chance, what with taking a break from uni and work due to illness, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to learn more.

About the Blogging Mindset Mastery Course

The Blogging Mindset Mastery course is aimed at anyone who is feeling lost or stuck, unmotivated, or for anyone who needs help creating a plan or that extra push with their blog. It focuses a lot on mindset, manifestation and goal setting.

Blogging Mindset Mastery

The course is full of tips, task lists, worksheets, printable and templates to help support you throughout. The course is set out in 12 sections with over 60 lectures. Jenny covers a range of topics in the course such as; goal setting and action plans, the law of attraction, organisation and boosting productivity, blog admin and maintenance, social media and branding, working with brands and making money, money mindset and keeping the blogging momentum going.

Alongside the course there is a dedicated Facebook group for Blogging Mindset Mastery students to ask for advice and have support, as well as extra resources.

I was really looking forward to reading the sections on organisation, working with brands and making money, as these were the ones I felt I needed more information on.

My experience

Once I had access to the course, the first thing I did was read through all of the sections in one go. This gave me a good feel for what the course was about and what I could expect, and I have to say I was blown away. There is a lot of content. It is very easy to read and the layout is simple to navigate. After I read through all the content, I downloaded all of the worksheets and printed them out. I also got myself a new notebook and pen, because of course I needed more.

The introduction section is really inspiring. Jenny talks all about her blogging journey and what she has achieved. She explains about why she started her blog and her experience over the years, and how she got to where she is now.

Goals

The setting goals and action plan section is one of the most useful parts of the course. It really made me think about what I wanted for my blog. I started blogging because I wanted to share my love for beauty and my honest thoughts on beauty products. This is still the case as I blog as a hobby. But I do want to grow my blog, get more views and sponsored posts. Using the worksheets and the support from Jenny and the Facebook group I was able to create goals and actionable steps to help me reach those goals.

Organisation

The organisation and blog admin/maintenance section is really beneficial. With blogging there is a lot to remember and keep on top of, it is really easy to become lost and overwhelmed with everything you need to do. This section talks about creating a digital blog planner to keep on track of everything blog related, from your blogging schedule to brand collaborations to social media promotion. Having everything in one place has made it really easy to keep organised. There are also some really good tips on tasks you should do weekly to improve your blog.

Working with brands

Another section I found useful is the Working With Brands + Making Money Blogging section. It includes information about DA, engagement, how to contact brands and other ways to make money. I learnt a lot of little extra things I could do to improve my blog and chances of gaining brand collaborations. All the small things can really make a difference.

How the Blogging Mindset Mastery course helped me

Thinking back to where my blog was before the course, I feel like I had a good understanding of most blogging areas but this course has given me additional resources and knowledge to really enhance my skills and improve my blog in all areas.

Even though I have read the entire course, there is still so much more I can get from it. There are so many aspects of it that I can utilise, whether that be now or in the future. I can reuse the worksheets for goal setting, again and again. Once I have achieved one goal, I can use the same method to set another. The same can be said for the task lists, I can continuously use them and I can add to them if new aspects of blogging comes along.

I have found the course super useful to help me get organised! The biggest takeaway from the course is that you’ve got to love what you are doing, whether you are doing it as a hobby or as a job. It’s important to remember why you started and where you want to go with your blog. This course really helped me to focus on my goals and gave me the motivation and knowledge to achieve them. I’ve still got a long way to go to reach my goals, but I am heading in the right direction and my blog is very much a work in progress. I am proud of how far my little blog has come. I have grown in confidence, in myself and my blog.

Are blogging courses worth it?

Are blogging courses worth it?

Going back to my views on blogging courses, I was not sure if they were worth spending money on, as it seems that every blogger and their mother has come out with an ebook or a course in the past year or so. Would they teach me anything new? Are they based on experience and backed up with evidence?

The short answer to ‘are blogging courses worth it?’ is yes, blogging courses can be worth it, but it depends on a variety of things. It depends on what the course is and where your knowledge is currently at. My advice is to research, research, research!

Firstly I would take a look at the blogger who has written the course. What is their blog like? How long have they been blogging for? If they have a course about SEO, check to see if some of their blog posts are ranking on google. If they have written about working with brands, have a look at who they’ve been working with. What are their campaigns like? Do they declare their ADs properly? They need to have experience in what they are talking about.

Then look at what the course is saying they can provide for you. Is that something you need help with. Have people recommended the course? Are there any testimonials or reviews of the course? If there are, look at what type of people have mentioned the course. Are they similar to you? Do they write about the same topics as you? Are they at the same level of skills and knowledge as you?

What’s included

Next it is important to look at the content they are providing. How many pages or sections is the course? Is it in an easy to read format and easy to access. It could be an online course, a PDF, face to face, or even through video. What works best for you, what is your learning style?

Is there a time scale? Do you have to complete the course by a certain time? How long do you have access to the course? Another thing to look out for is if the course offers any additional resources, some courses come as a package deal or include extra things such as; a facebook group, a webinar, or a free ebook.

One of the big things to consider is the price. Is the course worth the money? Blogging advice doesn’t always come cheap. Many bloggers put a lot of time and effort into their courses. Their knowledge is valuable and highly sought after. Consider how many people have already bought the course. If people are paying that price, it must be worth it. It is also worth mentioning that a lot of bloggers just want to help people and are happy to share their knowledge, that is why they might have discount codes or savings off their course.

My final thoughts on blogging courses

There are so many things to consider when choosing a course, it is an investment for your blog, so you need to make the right decision. Since doing the Blogging Mindset Mastery course, it has really opened my eyes to what some bloggers have to offer. I have recently purchased two more blogging courses and look forward to completing them.

If you want to up your blogging game, it’s definetly worth while investing in the Blogging Mindset Mastery course.
