8 Hacks That’ll Shake Up Your Make-Up Routine (For The Better)
Shake Up Your Make-Up Routine. We all start our make-up journey as complete newbies. Eventually, we get to a place where we feel like we know what we’re doing after some hard-learned lessons. And embarrassing make-up mishaps.
There are some products that we’ve never mastered. And some that we’ve barely even touched. Yet, we can all benefit from having a few new make-up tricks under our belt. And we all want to look good when we put on a bit of make-up.
So whether you’re posing for a wedding photographer, or you’re just chilling and living your best life, here are some hacks that’ll shake up your make-up and completely transform your routine. And make it a hell of a lot easier.
1)Foundation Before Concealer
This has to be the easiest hack to level up your make-up game. Doing the foundation first means redness and discolouration is minimised right of the bat. Then you can go in with concealer or a little more foundation just on the bits that need it. You’ll use less product and will feel less cakey. Don’t forget that a good skincare routine will help with application too.
2) Warm Up Your Liner
Have you ever had an issue with eyeliner or lipliner giving up halfway through the perfect application? Or it sputters in and out of existence as you try to sweep it beautifully across your eye? You can overcome this annoying habit by just warming up your liner first. Get a lighter and warm up the end; it’ll glide much, much easier. Do a swatch on your hand before going straight on to the face to avoid a burn.
3) Outline
Doing a cat-eye has to be one of the hardest looks to master. And getting them to match each other is another story. Try outlining the shape of your winged eyeliner first. That way, if it needs to be altered, it’ll be much easier than trying to shift a whole eyelid of liner. Once you’re happy with the outline shape, you can fill it in for a perfect cat-eye.
4) Get Voluminous Lashes
Getting big, curly, and luscious-looking lashes are the holy grail of make-up hacks. To make them look thicker, layer up translucent powders between coats of mascara. And to achieve the ultimate curl, warm up your eyelash curlers with the hairdryer first. It’ll help you get a bigger curl that lasts longer. But check the warmth of your eyelash curler on the back of your hand before going straight onto lashes.
5) Nail Down Placement
Nailing down the placement of make-up can completely transform your face. If you want to look more lifted and have shaper-looking cheekbones, placement is key. Put your lighter concealer at the bottom and furthest edge of your eyes. Then blend that upwards. Add contour on and just below your cheekbone, sweeping up and into your hairline. You can even bring it around the edges of your forehead if you are a contour lover! Keep your blush just on the topmost part of your cheekbones, just under your eyes. Make sure to sweep that up and back too.
All this sweeping of colour will pull your face up and back!
6) Get A Spoolie
Keep your brows in check with a spoolie. It’s a great form of prep before adding in colour and gels. Give your brows a quick brush, and the hairs will lie more uniformly.
7) Revive Mascara
Mascara should only be kept for 3 months. Otherwise, usage can lead to nasty bacteria and eye infections. But as it’s one of our most used products, so they tend to dry out quickly. Revive it by putting a few drops of saline solution, and it’ll go back to a lovely, smooth consistency.
8) Check Yourself Out
When we’ve finished dolling ourselves up, we check ourselves out in a mirror. Who can blame us! But to shake up your routine, check yourself out in different lighting. Nine times out of ten, we do our face in unnatural light. And make-up can look completely different depending on the light. So take a mo to check yourself out in natural light.
That concludes the 8 Hacks That’ll Shake Up Your Make-Up Routine. Experiment, have fun and get creative.
