Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review

I was in need of a new concealer and heard so many good things about this concealer, so I decided to pick up the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer from my local boots. I was really interest to see what it was like and do a Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review on my blog.

Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer is said to have coloured pigments that perfect the under eye area, covering flawlessly. Designed to cover dark circles and fine lines. The concealer instantly creates a radiant, refreshed looking eye area.

The formula includes haloxyl and goji berry. Haloxyl is a blend of 2 peptides that absorb coloured blood pigments from the skin (dark circles). Goji berries are packed full of vitamins and minerals, which help with brightness and the regeneration of cells for plump looking skin.

Shade range

The shade range isn’t the best. On the Maybelline website it says there are 18 shades, however on the Boots website it only shows 13 shades and on the Superdrug website is has 20, although I think a few of those are duplicates. I got the shade 95 cool ivory

Packaging

I’ve got to mention the packaging. It’s like marmite, you’re either going to love it or hate it. It comes in a Micro-Corrector Applicator, which is basically a soft sponge, that you need to twist up to release the product. There are a lot of controversial thoughts in the beauty industry on whether the applicator is hygienic. This is because you are constantly re-contaminating the sponge everytime you twist out product and swipe it under your eye. I can understand this from a makeup artists point of view, as they would be using it on lots of clients. However for everyday use on yourself, your face is typically clean when you apply makeup. Personally, I don’t tend to use the sponge applicator directly to my face. I take some of the product off the sponge with my finger

My Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review

When I first used it I was really disappointed as it was really cakey and pilled up underneath my eye. I tried using it with a brush, makeup sponge and my fingers but I kept having the same result. What I finally realised was I was using way too much product. Normally with other concealers I would do a swipe of product under each eye and then blend out with either a sponge or fingers, and that worked fine. However with this, I only need to dab on the tiniest amount and blend with my fingers.

It isn’t a full coverage concealer but it conceals my dark circles well and is really brightening. The texture is creamy and works best under well hydrated skin. You’ve got a little bit of play time to blend it in before it sets. If you wait too long, it can go slightly powdery. If you do want/need some more coverage it is easy to build up. It’s better to apply a couple of thin layers, rather than going in heavy handed with a swipe of product, like I originally did.

I’ve been loving this concealer. It’s really lightweight and brightening under the eye. It blends really well and covers up my dark circles. I am not a fan of the applicator but I don’t think many people who have tried this concealer are.
