Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review

I was in need of a new concealer and had heard so many good things about the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer*, so I decided to pick one up. I was really intrigued to see whether it lived up to the hype, especially as it’s such a popular product in the beauty community. After giving it a good try, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share my honest Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer review and let you know what I really think of it, including the coverage, application, shade range and how it looks underneath the eyes.

Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review

Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer is said to have coloured pigments that perfect the under eye area, covering flawlessly. Designed to cover dark circles and fine lines. The concealer instantly creates a radiant, refreshed looking eye area.

The formula includes haloxyl and goji berry. Haloxyl is a blend of 2 peptides that absorb coloured blood pigments from the skin (dark circles). Goji berries are packed full of vitamins and minerals, which help with brightness and the regeneration of cells for plump looking skin.

Maybelline Concealer Shade Range

The Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Eraser Concealer is currently available in 16 shades, giving you a reasonable selection of tones to choose from. I picked up shade 95 Cool Ivory, which is a good match for my skin tone and works well for brightening underneath my eyes. Although 16 shades is better than some concealers on the market, I do think the shade range could be more inclusive, particularly when it comes to deeper shades and different undertones. That said, there should be a few options to choose from depending on your complexion, so it’s worth checking the shades available before purchasing to find your closest match.

Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Packaging

I’ve got to mention the packaging. It’s like marmite, you’re either going to love it or hate it. It comes in a Micro-Corrector Applicator, which is basically a soft sponge, that you need to twist up to release the product. There are a lot of controversial thoughts in the beauty industry on whether the applicator is hygienic. This is because you are constantly re-contaminating the sponge everytime you twist out product and swipe it under your eye. I can understand this from a makeup artists point of view, as they would be using it on lots of clients. However for everyday use on yourself, your face is typically clean when you apply makeup. Personally, I don’t tend to use the sponge applicator directly to my face. I take some of the product off the sponge with my finger

My Maybelline Concealer Anti Age Review

When I first used it I was really disappointed as it was really cakey and pilled up underneath my eye. I tried using it with a brush, makeup sponge and my fingers but I kept having the same result. What I finally realised was I was using way too much product. Normally with other concealers I would do a swipe of product under each eye and then blend out with either a sponge or fingers, and that worked fine. However with this, I only need to dab on the tiniest amount and blend with my fingers.

Is the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer Worth It?

One of the things I really like about the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer is how natural it looks once it’s blended. Some concealers can leave the under-eye area looking heavy or dry, especially if you have fine lines, but I find that using a really small amount of this under eye concealer gives a much fresher finish. It doesn’t completely erase my dark circles, but it helps to soften and brighten the area, which is exactly the sort of everyday coverage I look for.

After trying it properly, I can understand why this Maybelline concealer has become such a popular makeup product. It’s lightweight, creamy and doesn’t feel heavy underneath my eyes. If you’re looking for a concealer for dark circles that gives a brightening effect without looking too cakey, this is definitely one I’d recommend considering.

Maybelline Concealer for Dark Circles

I’ve also found that the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer works particularly well on days when I don’t want to wear a full face of makeup. A little under the eyes, around the nose and over any areas that need a little extra attention is usually enough to make me look more awake and put together.

I wouldn’t describe this as a full-coverage concealer, but I actually think that’s one of its biggest advantages for everyday makeup. It gives enough coverage to make my dark circles less noticeable while still allowing my skin to look like skin. The brightening finish is especially lovely when I’m tired and want to fake a more awake appearance!

How to Apply Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer

If you’re thinking about trying it, my biggest tip would definitely be less is more. Don’t be tempted to twist loads of product out and apply a big swipe like I did when I first used it! Start with a tiny amount, blend it out and then add another thin layer if you need more coverage.

I personally prefer applying a small amount with my fingers rather than using the sponge applicator directly underneath my eyes. I find that gently tapping the product into the skin gives me a really natural finish. Making sure your under-eye area is well moisturised beforehand also makes a noticeable difference, particularly if you have dry skin or fine lines.

My Final Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer Review

For the price, I think the Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer is definitely worth considering if you’re looking for a lightweight, brightening and easy-to-blend concealer. It isn’t going to give you an incredibly full-coverage, completely flawless finish, but if you want your under-eyes to look fresher and more awake without feeling like you’re wearing lots of makeup, I can see why this concealer has such a loyal following.

Overall, despite my rocky first impression, I’m really glad I persevered with it. Once I figured out how little product I actually needed, I started to really appreciate what it could do. My under-eye area looks brighter, my dark circles are less noticeable and it feels comfortable enough to wear throughout the day.

So, is Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer worth buying? For me, yes. If you’re after an affordable everyday under eye concealer that gives a fresh, brightened appearance rather than a heavy, full-coverage finish, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. Just remember my biggest tip: start with a tiny amount and build it up gradually. It has certainly become one of those makeup products that I find myself reaching for again and again, and for me, that’s always a good sign.

I’d recommend checking the available shades before buying, particularly if you have a fair, deep or very specific undertone, as the shade selection can vary between retailers.
