Turning Your Bedroom into The Best Room
When it comes to the bedroom, it is the space that you want to feel cool, calm and relaxed in. And while your bed might be comfortable, you might be yearning for something that is a more calming space that โisnโt just about the sleep – or lack of. So when it comes to turning your bedroom into the best room in the house, here are a few tips that will help you greatly.

Make it a Sleep Haven
Sleep is one of the most important parts of your life, and you need to make sure you are getting as much sleep as you possibly can. There are loads of key ideas you have to make the most of when it comes to improving this moving forward, and you have to take steps to make sure your room is more conducive to the ultimate sleeping environment. Turning your bedroom into a sleep haven is one of the best ways of making it the best room in the home, and there are a lot of ways in which you can make the most of this.
For one thing, you need to think about what is involved in getting a great nightโs sleep, and this is something to keep in mind right now. Make sure you consider the best parts of this, and look at things like a weight guide for weighted blankets to find the warmest and snuggest blankets for your sleeping experience. You also need to make sure you assess the temperature of the room, as well as how light it is, and whether youโre going to have any noise aids in order to help you sleep (this is more common than you might think).
Clean
Nothing can be truly calm and relaxed if it is messy. Piles of magazines, clothing on the floor, bags and shoes without a home. It can be a huge distraction when you are trying to get some sleep or just rest. So a deep clean will get up all of the dust and anything else that might be lurking. Grab you vacuum, mop and bucket and some scrubbing sponges. The more work you put into cleaning something, the more proud you will be when you are done. And youโll have a better connection with the room since youโve just made it gleam.
Throw It Out
Or donate it. The chances are pretty high that you have a range of items in your bedroom that you either donโt love or donโt use. Itโs time to grab a box and a bag. The box is for donating stuff, and the bag is for throwing things away. Go through your drawers, under the bed, in your wardrobes and anywhere else you mightโve tucked the receipts from a recent shop, or hiding that shirt youโre never going to wear. Try and reduce the amount of stuff in the room.
Minimum
Once you have thrown things away, you are going to find that you already have more space. But take that further. What do you need in the room? If you only need a bed and some drawers, but you have shoeboxes, bookshelves and more. It is time to reconsider what meets the mark. If you are an avid reader and you have a chair with your books that is great, if you never read but have a chair in the room – ask yourself does it just serve as a place to pile up clothing?
Colour
The colour of your bedroom will go some way to influencing how you sleep and feel in there. A room that is bright and bubbly might not be the best for getting to sleep. Blues and greens are typically the best choices to be calm and relaxed, so you can drift off. Orange and red tend to be colours we associate with being alert. Purples and golds are luxurious to look at, but might not give you that calm you are looking for.
It isnโt just about the colour, it is about the shade and tone. For example, a bright purple and soft lilac have very different impacts. So think carefully before you put anything on the walls. And if in doubt, go for white.
Textiles
Your bedding, pillows, rugs and curtains all lend themselves to the overall feeling in the room. They are part of the building blocks. If you hate the velvet curtains but love the silk cushions and throw pillows, it might be time to change the curtains. Faux furs, chenille, velvets and silks feel and look luxurious. Think about the best hotel rooms that you have been to, and the chances are the colour coordination is something you appreciated – so replicate that.
Wires
There is nothing as annoying as black wires in a tangle in the bedroom. It looks unsightly and in some cases can be a trip hazard. Untangling wires isnโt all that much fun. So do it once, and invest in some cable tidies. Tuck the cables out of sight and keep a power outlet easy to reach and empty at all times.
Lighting
Make use of the light that your room naturally has from windows and balconies and then add more. Consider adding lamps on the walls to give you more illumination and see if changing your current light fittings and lamps are going to provide you with the brightening effect you are looking for. If you arenโt keen on having a lot of more daylight toned lighting, then you might like to opt for warmer toned bulbs, which generally give the room a warm coppery glow. Almost the tone you would get if you had an open fire.
The final touches should be some candles that you really love the smell of. Dot them around the room, and even when they arenโt lit, they will be doing their job.
