If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from years of colouring my hair, it’s that getting bored of your hair colour is a lot easier than getting rid of it! Over the years, I’ve experimented with pretty much every colour you can imagine — brown, black, red, blue and purple. The problem? How I Used Colour B4 Extra Strength

I read the instructions carefully before starting because I wanted to make sure I gave the product the best possible chance of working.

Once the remover and activator were mixed, I applied the product generously throughout my hair. I made sure that my hair was completely saturated rather than trying to make the product stretch too far.

I then wrapped my hair in cling film and covered it with a towel.

And then I waited.

How long do you leave Colour B4 on?

The One Thing I Really Didn’t Like: The Smell!

I’m going to be completely honest here. Colour B4 smells awful.

While mixing and applying the product, I noticed a very strong sulphur/egg-like smell. It definitely isn’t the sort of luxurious, salon-like experience you might associate with a beauty treatment!

Unfortunately, the smell didn’t disappear immediately either. I could still notice it for several days afterwards.

For me, though, this was the main downside of the product. I was prepared to tolerate the smell because I was much more interested in whether it would actually remove the colour.

And it did.

Rinsing Colour B4 Out

Once the 60 minutes were up, I jumped into the shower and started rinsing.

This is a step I would not rush.

I spent approximately 10 minutes rinsing my hair thoroughly, keeping a constant flow of water over it. I wanted to make sure as much of the product and loosened artificial colour as possible was removed.

I then used half of the included buffer, left it for one minute and rinsed.

I repeated the process with the second half of the buffer and rinsed my hair again.

It takes a little patience, but if you’re using a product designed to remove colour, I think thorough rinsing is absolutely worth the extra time.

My Colour B4 Results

So, what happened?

Colour B4 removed a lot of the artificial colour from my hair.

It also reduced the colour build-up, leaving me with a much lighter base.

However, my hair wasn’t magically transformed back into its original white-blonde shade.

Instead, I was left with some warmer, slightly ginger tones.

This was something I expected. My hair had been dyed so many times that I knew there was likely to be some residual staining and underlying warmth.

For me, the result was still a success because the purpose of using Colour B4 was to remove artificial colour — not to bleach my hair blonde.

Does Colour B4 Damage Your Hair?

One of the biggest questions I had before trying Colour B4 was whether it would leave my hair feeling damaged.

I didn’t notice any obvious damage to my hair after using it.

Considering the history of my hair and the number of different colours I’d used, I was genuinely pleased with how it felt afterwards.

Of course, everyone’s hair is different. If your hair has already been heavily bleached, chemically treated or is particularly fragile, you should take extra care and follow the product’s instructions and testing recommendations.

How I Got Rid of the Brassy Tones

After removing the artificial colour, I knew I still had some work to do before getting the ash blonde result I wanted.
