Anxiety coping techniques
When anxiety is getting the better of you, the normal tips are to think about something else/distract yourself. However some research suggests, that actually focusing on the thing you are anxious about, and imagining the worst thing that could happen, might help the fear ease or even disappear.
We’ve all heard the expression ‘laughter is the best medicine’. Well laughter actually triggers the release of endorphins which are the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Therefore taking some time to laugh, is a reminder to ourselves that anxiety does not control us.
It may be useful to plan short-term activities that you find enjoyable/distracting. Distracting yourself in an enjoyable way, will allow you to find positivity in managing your anxiety.
