Christmas At The Grape & Olive
Last week I was able to go the Grape & Olive for the first time. The restaurant is situated in the heart of Swansea, with beautiful views from the top of the tallest building in Wales.
The Grape and Olive were holding their first blogger and press event, and kindly invited me to sample some of the dishes on their Festive and Christmas Day menus.
Firstly we had a chance to mingle with the other guests and have a look around the restaurant, while snapping up shots of the gorgeous interior. Everything was so pretty and Christmassy; with crackers, a glass of bubbly and even jars of cute chocolate Santa’s for us to nibble on.
After an introduction talk about the restaurant and the plans for the future from the General Manager Gavin, the lovely Event and Marketing Manager, Ffion (who you might know from Essence of Red) explained to us the format of the evening and what we would be sampling from both Christmas menus.
I was exceedingly pleased with all the food I had the pleasure of tasting. Amazing flavour from every dish, my favourites being; the potato and leek soup and the chocolate and orange fondant – I could have eaten about six, it tasted exactly like terry’s chocolate orange!
I was surprised with the array of different meals, especially the starters. There were a lot of things I wouldn’t normally opt for, however I decided to give them a go and was delighted with the mix of flavours and textures that whirled around in my mouth. Deep fried camembert and fig and goats cheese tarts are winners!
Overall I am really impressed with my first visit to the Grape and Olive, the food was glorious, the event well planned, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. I would like to say a huge thank you to Gavin and Ffion for organising such a fantastic event and I cannot wait to come back to have a full 3 course meal. I honestly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a Christmas meal as they can cater for everyone.
